I, Benjamin Thompson, founded Great River Insurance Group in 2023 in Warsaw, Illinois. I had spent the previous 5 years diligently learning the ins and outs of the Medicare industry. My experience is not only as broker for 3 different brokerages, but also as a customer service representative and a captive agent for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. None of those positions allowed me the ability to speak unbiased, candidly and open with the people I was there to help.
Therefore, I began the journey of becoming an independent broker and formed Great River Insurance Group in 2023. The following year, Great River moved its headquarters to Bucyrus, Missouri. We then finalized our service area to the cover states of Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio, and Texas.
We now represent over 25 different Medicare insurance carriers. Because of this, we have the best chance of finding a plan that fits your specific situation. First and foremost, you pay us nothing at all. We are paid equally from all carriers that we represent (an amount pre-determined by CMS, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services). We have no bias towards which insurance company that you choose. You will lose no benefits by having a broker or agent, and it costs you nothing. You will, however, gain both my advice and advocacy, to ensure that you’re receiving everything you need and that you know what you’re entitled to.
I receive no benefit at all by you paying more for your coverage. Although, at times better coverage can indeed cost more. I’m focused on helping you find the best plan for your needs, so you don’t have to worry about me trying to sell you something that doesn’t fit your needs or your budget. Although you will need to contact me directly to get a quote with discounts on a Medicare Supplement plan, we have made it so that all our of Advantage and Part D plan options can be viewed online (and even signed up for, if you wish).
